Hello, I am Marie
I work as a project manager. I’m a parent. An expat enjoying life in Paris, France.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't in the long-term plan. Like many expat transitions, it began as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The first months were tough — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Subtle Shore Tone
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in France.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on knowledge gained from living in France
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated when something meaningful changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in France goes on, and the learning process continues. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Marie
